I haven't read "Spirits In Bondage" which Lewis wrote after World War I but I'm thinking about doing so to see how he handled that grief and comparing it with this. ournal of a man in deep pain. Would I recommend it to a person who is weeping the passing of a family member or friend? Perhaps not straight away. But it is a book that ought to be read at some point, if only because Lewis manages to articulate what we all feel but dare not say.
