Embodying Mark invites readers on a journey through the entire Gospel, accompanying Jesus from his baptism to his empty tomb. Appropriate for groups or individual readers. Over the course of 8 chapters, readers are guided through eight focus passages, each supplemented by five additional readings and a passage for prayer from Isaiah or Psalms related to each week's theme, along with words for contemplation from the focus passage for readers to remember as they reflect on the theme. The book offers readers several modes of engagement with the principal texts. A close reading of each text draws attention to the details of the passage and its relationship to the Gospel as a whole, and in particular to Mark's portrait of Jesus. Each chapter also offers exercises for praying the scripture and embodying the text through various forms of creative expression. Embodying Mark opens up possibilities for discovering and retrieving treasures in the text, and in the life of each reader who makes the Gospel her own with heart, mind and soul.
