A powerful family drama based on actual events. In December 1978 near Manchester, England a family is shattered by a double tragedy. After the tragic death of her husband, Mary Walker falls into a spiral of suicidal depression and subsequently loses custody of her two boys. James and Paul are sent to a series of institutions and foster care placements where they begin to lose hope that they will ever see their mother again. Through the intervention of a Christian therapist, Mary regains her faith, experiences emotional healing, and finds the strength of fight a sceptical bureaucracy for custody of her children.
