Jonah-nya (Jonah): Children’s Bible Series - Pitjantjatjara
Booklet 2024-06-01
This is the Old Testament story of Jonah in Pitjantjatjara. God asked Jonah to travel to Nineveh to tell the people that they were being disobedient and to change their ways or they would be punished. Jonah didn’t want to go, and instead boarded a boat in an attempt to get away. God sent a big storm, making everyone on the boat scared of drowning. Jonah knew it was his fault and in attempt to save them, asked the sailors to throw him overboard. They did, and the storm stopped. Jonah, however, was swallowed up by a big fish and remained in its belly for three days. Then the fish spit him out onto dry land. Jonah then travelled to Nineveh and told the people to change their ways. They listened, and God forgave them. Jonah learned that it’s important to listen to God and that God is merciful to everyone.
