ide first class exposition of the text. Both Stott and Carson are among the best in providing good exegesis and exposition of SM. However, if you are looking for a detailed explanation of the original meaning of SM and solid exegesis of the text, this would be my first choice. It is of course not as detailed as the exhaustive commentary of Betz. However, Quarles' commentary is a lot more accessible to readers without a working knowledge of Greek, the writing is clear, succinct and balanced. Highly recommended.
