Jonathan Edwards

Jonathan Edwards

Jonathan Edwards (1703–1758) was an American pastor, theologian, philosopher, and one of the most influential figures of the First Great Awakening. Known for combining rigorous theological thought with a deep concern for Christian experience, Edwards wrote extensively on revival, conversion, faith, God’s glory, human nature, and the Christian life. His best-known works include Religious Affections, The Freedom of the Will, and the sermon Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God. Edwards also recorded extensive reflections on Scripture and theology, leaving a body of work that continues to shape Reformed theology, evangelical thought, preaching, and discussions of genuine Christian faith.
