Sparkling Regency Romance from a Captivating New Voice
Lady Miranda Hawthorne acts every inch the lady, but inside she longs to be bold and carefree. Entering her fourth Season and approaching spinsterhood in the eyes of society, she pours her innermost feelings out not in a diary but in letters to her brother's old school friend, a duke--with no intention of ever sending these private thoughts to a man she's heard stories about but never met. Meanwhile, she also finds herself intrigued by Marlow, her brother's new valet, and although she may wish to break free of the strictures that bind her, falling in love with a servant is more of a rebellion than she planned.

When Marlow accidentally discovers and mails one of the letters to her unwitting confidant, Miranda is beyond mortified. And even more shocked when the duke returns her note with one of his own that initiates a courtship-by-mail. Insecurity about her lack of suitors shifts into confusion at her growing feelings for two men--one she's never met but whose words deeply resonate with her heart, and one she has come to depend on but whose behavior is more and more suspicious. When it becomes apparent state secrets are at risk and Marlow is right in the thick of the conflict, one thing is certain: Miranda's heart is far from all that's at risk for the Hawthornes and those they love.

    A Firm Favourite

This book is so much fun. The premise sounded good and I was interested to see if it could deliver and meet my expectations. It met them and more. I could never put the book down for long, always thinking about the characters and what they would be getting up to next. It was fun and engaging. Highly recommended.

    A captivating novel!

What a lovely read! I was thoroughly engrossed in the story from the very beginning and I can confidently say that I enjoyed every minute of reading this. It had just the right amounts of humour, intrigue and of course romance. I fell in love with all the characters, particularly Miranda. She was so spunky and witty; a real highlight for me! The storyline was also so much fun and I can't wait to read the rest of the series. I would highly recommend this novel for all lovers of historical romance!

    Fantastic!!!

Absolutely hilarious! I laughed so hard at the antics of the characters. I love Miranda! She's bossy and rebellious, but loves deeply and passionately. The twists and turns keep you sitting on edge hoping that everything works out.

    I laughed so hard!

I burst out laughing with the very first line. I loved, loved most of the book. \\nHowever, I felt the last few chapters belonged to another book, and to me, they ruined what had been a lovely, lighthearted read with a dark twist. I assumed the last few chapters were only in there to make up word count until I read book 2. It now makes sense, but I think if she had just adjusted book 2's plot a little differently, it would have been better. \\nIt was however a great and hilarious debut book.
