Former elite sniper, now park ranger at the Gettysburg historic site, Griffin McCray gets into deep water when he catches relic hunters uncovering recent human remains. When an old school friend - now in the FBI - turns up to investigate, Griffin must confront the darkest days of his life.
Dani Pettrey Launches a New Romantic Suspense Series In college, Griffin McCray and his four best friends had their lives planned out. Griffin and Luke Gallagher would join the Baltimore PD. Declan Gray would head to the FBI and Parker Mitchell would go on to graduate school as a crime scene analyst. But then Luke vanished before graduation and their world--and friendships--crumbled.
Now Griffin is a park ranger at Gettysburg, having left life as a SWAT-team sniper when a case went bad. The job is mostly quiet--until the day he captures two relic hunters uncovering skeletal remains near Little Round Top. Griffin just wants the case to go away, but charming forensic anthropologist Finley Scott determines that the body is modern--a young social justice lawyer missing since spring--and all evidence points to the work of an expert sniper. When FBI agent Declan Gray takes over the case, past and present collide. Griffin soon realizes he'll need to confront some of the darkest days of his life if he--and those he cares about--are going to escape a downward spiral of murder that crosses continents.

Former police office, and now park ranger, Griffin McCray has been fighting his attraction to forensic anthropologist Finley Scott. However, just as their professional relationship is about to end, a more recent body turns up buried among the historical skeletons and relics at Gettysburg. They're each dealing with issues of the past that are stopping them from moving forward in the future, but they have to work together to solve the crime. Some of Griffin's friends and colleagues are thrown into the mix, and before we know it, romantic tension is blossoming all over the place. \\n\\nIt's quite a complicated plot, with lots of mystery and suspense, and the main characters are likable. They also have to grapple with faith issues, such as trust and forgiveness, which adds an extra dimension. There were too many POV characters for my liking, though I know the author is setting things up to continue with other characters in the rest of the series. I felt my attention was divided and it was sometimes hard to keep track of everyone. However, they were all interesting characters, and it was an enjoyable read overall. If you enjoyed Dani Pettrey's Alaskan Courage series, you'll also enjoy this one. I've already downloaded the next one on my Kindle.

Engaging action thriller
Danni Pettrey, as a writer, is not unlike Dee Henderson. This title, Cold Shot, is full of action and on the edge of your seat thriller. The romance in the novel is a little to easily formed and lacks credibility, but perhaps that is typical of a crime book that also doubles with romantic elements. It is good value and I am looking forward to reading the second title in this series.

Great!
The introduction was a bit awkward as you were left trying to put the pieces together of exactly who was who, as Dani didnt actually introduce the characters until later on in the story. In saying that, she dived straight into a small climax which had you hooked from page 1. There were a lot of characters involved in the story, but she developed the main ones really well and I'm sure they will be focused on individually in later series. While of course there were main characters, there wasn't really one or two main characters that the book focused on but Dani took a more holistic approach to the story. \\r\\nIt was captivating and full of suspense and I can't wait until the next book comes out!

Awesome
Such an awesome read! Full of suspense and mystery. You were kept hanging until the very end. Dani introduced the characters in such a way that you were falling in love with them all and wanted their dreams to come true and their differences to be resolved. It was probably more of an introductory novel as opposed to a first in series. Not because there wasn't a good story line, but rather because Dani focuses on a group of characters rather than just a specific one or two, but i did not feel as though that detracted from the quality of the story.

Good read
Good start to a new series. Really focuses on overcoming fear, leaning on God's strength and the power of forgiveness. Looking forward to book 2!
