Seven years ago, Moriyah was taken captive in Jericho and branded with the mark of the Canaanite gods. Now the Israelites are experiencing peace in their new land, but Moriyah has yet to find her own peace. Because of the shameful mark on her face, she hides behind her veil at all times and the disdain of the townspeople keeps her from socializing. And marriage prospects were out of the question ... until now.

Her father has found someone to marry her, and she hopes to use her love of cooking to impress the man and his motherless sons. But when things go horribly wrong, Moriyah is forced to flee. Seeking safety at one of the newly-established Levitical cities of refuge, she is wildly unprepared for the dangers she will face, and the enemies--and unexpected allies--she will encounter on her way.

    Amazing story

This book was absolutely beautifully written and left me with such a bigger view of God and his incredible grace and love for his people. I'd never thought much about the Cities of Refuge or what it would have been like to be one of those who needed them (and what it meant for their families), hence this was a real eye-opener to those, but I also loved Moriyah's journey and the strength she showed throughout it. Really amazing and a great beginning to a new series.

    I couldn't put it down!

I was given this book for my birthday from my sister as it had great reviews. I'd never heard of it but wow I could not put it down! I had to them go by the next one that follows and the two after that! Now I just ordered the series before! My new fav author! Throughly enjoyed reading this whole series

    Amazing!

As a fan of the Out From Egypt series, I was excited to find Moriyah's story continued in A Light on The Hill. Gone is the vibrant girl we met in Wings of the Wind, to be replaced with a shy and retiring young woman, changed by the shame she presumes she has brought on her family. As the book unfolds, tragedy takes place, and Moriyah is on the run for her life. Captivating, thrilling, and a call to trust God, even in the face of tragedy and trial.

    Great read!

I loved this book! Some of her past titles have been a bit hit or miss with me but this one is great! The story was EXCITING. There was travel, danger, intrigue and above all of that the development of a great love story. Was it all completely historically accurate? Perhaps not, but I was quite willing to suspend belief for the great plot and really likeable characters. It does continue with a character from the 3rd of her Out from Egypt series, but I hadn't read that particular one and didn't feel that I needed to have done so.
