A New Resolution (#03 in Resolution Series)

As with the previous novels in the Resolution Series, I greately enjoyed this final episode. It was great to see the characters from previous novels make their appearances without detracting from Nate, Anika and Kye's story. I always love a great romance with a bit of mystery thrown in to keep me turning the pages, and A New Resolution didn't let me down. \\r\\n\\r\\nRose doesn't hide the realities of life, including its tempations, fromher writing, and I love that raw honesty that comes through. Especially the pull of the physical versus the choice to do what is right. This came through even in Anika's dealing with Kye's reaction to the wrong around him. And of course, there is the tropical setting of North Queensland, which makes you feel like you are on a warm summer holiday. \\r\\n\\r\\nI congratulate Rose on winning the CAELB Award for Fiction for this novel. It is well worth it. I recommend A New Resolution to all those who love a strong romance with something extra. \\r\\n

I enjoyed reading this book. Anika (Ani) is a fascinating character with an indigenous islander heritage. She lacked parental guidance as a youngster and was rescued by distant relatives, Aunty and Uncle. Starved for love, Ani made a decision that changed the direction of her life. \\r\\n\\r\\nNate has lived a life of privilege in Texas and his decisions follow in the pleasure seeking footsteps of his father. His mother's untimely death sends him on a sailing adventure to far North Queensland. \\r\\n\\r\\nThe first third of the book provides the lead up to Ani and Nate's first meeting at Resolution, which I would have liked to have seen happen earlier in the story. The sparks fly when they finally meet and a fun romance develops along with a mystery surrounding the source of the illegal fishing on nearby islands. \\r\\n\\r\\nAni and Nate discover their faith during the story and they have both experienced intimate relationships with previous partners. This aspect of their lives is explored in a realistic manner in the story. The level of sensuality is higher than the typical Christian romance and includes a bikini top wardrobe malfunction scene that could potentially offend some readers. \\r\\n\\r\\nThe story portrays the very real challenges facing those who seek to uphold Biblical standards of purity outside of marriage. It doesn't sugar coat the struggles facing people who are not used to suppressing their lustful desires. \\r\\n\\r\\nI recommend A New Resolution to those…

This is the final book in the Resolution Island series. \\r\\n \\r\\nAni has had a difficult beginning, but she manages to pull herself together for the sake of her son. She thinks all is going well - a new life and a new job on Resolution Island. Then her nerves are rattled by two occurrences: a child custody challenge, and the arrival of a charming, rich American, who is exactly the kind of man she despises. \\r\\n\\r\\nNate is a loveable and cute character - who can resist a charming man with a yacht? But Ani does her very best to try. \\r\\n\\r\\nThe characters of the earlier books are woven into the story in a subtle way and provide a link between Ani and Nate. There is an illegal fishing mystery bound up in the story, although it wasn't quite as exciting an intrigue as the mysteries in the previous novels. \\r\\n\\r\\nEach of the main characters draw on the influence of their Christian family, so they don't undergo an epic, unbelievable conversion. Their drawing closer to God is very natural - like a logical conclusion - which is great as it does not have a preachy feel. \\r\\n\\r\\nThere's a fair amount of 'telling' in this book, so I didn't get as emotionally involved with the characters as I would have liked. But overall this is a sweet story with a happy ending, and a nice finish to the Resolution series.

Rose Dee has completed an engaging trilogy of novels set against the backdrop of a tropical Island off the coast of Queensland. This third and final title in the series has the same strong characters as the first two, adventure, mystery, and of course romance. If you haven't read Rose Dee before, let me recommend her as one of Australia's new Christian Fiction authors, definitely worth reading. \\r\\nMeredith Resce - author

The characters are strong, the plot interesting, and I especially like the way the Christian elements were integrated into the story, in a way that felt quite realistic, without preaching or moralising. \\r\\n\\r\\nI also enjoyed the developing relationship between Ani and Nate, the way the attraction was developed into a friendly relationship before either of them acknowledged that there might be something more than mere attraction.
