    A Manual of Theology

This is a wonderful introduction into the main topical doctrinal themes beginning with Scripture and making there way to the last things. The chapters are short and pithy and while there is a logical unfolding of the doctrines it can be read in any order. The chapters are luminous with Scriptural references to engage the reader with the biblical text and undergird the teachings. I believe the Reformation Study Bible by Ligonier ministries used many of the entries in their theological inserts. Those who are new Christians or intimidated by lengthy theological systematic works ought to start here.

    Worth Reading

This book is straight to the point and there are plenty of scripture references to back up his claims. The book doesn't need to be read in order; any topic can be chosen to study. It can also help you articulate your beliefs more clearly.

A Concise and Helpful Introduction to Christian Theology

Any book written by J. I. Packer is always worth owning and reading. His """"Concise Theology"""" is no exception and ought to be in the library of every Christian who is serious about knowing what the Bible teaches on various doctrines. In four sections,""""God Revealed as Creator,"""" """"God Revealed as Redeemer,"""" """"God Revealed as Lord of Grace,"""" and """"God Revealed as Lord of Destiny,"""" Packer very ably and concisely teaches and explains 94 topics spanning the various loci of Systematic Theology, from Bibliology through Theology Proper, Anthropology, Christology, Soteriology, Ecclesiology to Eschatology. Not only will """"lay"""" Christians benefit from this helpful concise guide, even pastors will find this to be a helpful tool when they teach theology to their parishioners.

    Accessible Theology

Concise Theology by J. I. Packer is as it claims to be; concise in that he does not waste time in getting to the point, and also that he covers most of the topics found in more exhaustive systematic theologies. It is useful for teachers and students alike. In my studies I like to use it in conjunction with more in depth systematic theologies, as it provides an excellent topic summary as well as a thought provoking advanced organiser. It is neither overly opinionated and bashful, nor light and people pleasing. Packers' well roundedness is rare in today's vast array of theologians and is an essential resource for mere mortals like myself. \\r\\n\\r\\nIt achieves what it sets out to do, which is provide the everyday Christian with foundational, accessible theology.
