Looking for a woman of good character and pleasant disposition willing to learn the ranching business in Arizona territory. Must be SINGLE and prepared to remain so now and forever more. Will be given ownership of ranch. ?Eleanor Walker
Disgraced dime novelist Kate Tenney fled the city that banned her latest book for a fresh start at a cattle ranch in the Arizona Territory. She hopes ranching turns out to be as romantic as she portrayed it in her novels.
But what awaits her is a much harder life. There is no room for mistakes on a working cattle ranch in 1895, and Kate is ill-prepared for her new life. She quickly learns that dawn comes early . . . every day. But she is tenacious.
Having been abandoned by a string of men, Kate has no intention of ever marrying. But she didn?t expect to meet Luke Adams either. Luke awakens feelings inside Kate she doesn?t recognize, and his steady presence is a constant distraction. She has only written about love in the past, never known it herself. But her feelings for Luke stand in the way of all she has to gain if she is chosen as the heir.
Perhaps God brought Kate to the barrenness of the desert to give new life to her jaded heart.

This was such a fun book to read. Kate is a writer from Boston who answers an advertisement to become an heiress of a ranch in Arizona. You can imagine the laughs as she learns the ropes and tries to convince a very strong lady ranch owner that she will be able to handle the ranch. Add to this a hilarious bungling outlaw and of course a man who falls in love with her and you have a very entertaining story. I'm looking forward to reading book two in this series.

Humour and Romance
""""An absolute delight. I spent the whole book reading with a grin on my face"""" ~ Mary Connealy. This pretty much sums up my experience. Here is a teaser. . . \\r\\n\\r\\n. . . """"He led her up to the barn. Mexican or Western?' he asked. She glanced at his profile. Was he joking? Mexican? With her blond hair? """"I'm American,"""" she said with more than a little patriotic pride. """"Born and raised in Boston. """" """"God Give me strength,"""" he muttered. . . I'm talking about saddles. """" . . . """"So what saddle do you use?"""" He rolled his eyes. """"Don't tell me it was English. """"\\r\\nThe humour fuels the romance. But there is a twist! I would mention it, but it really makes or breaks their relationship. Who said stories have to have a happy ending? But trust me, this one does. It's more than satisfying. \\r\\n\\r\\n\\r\\nHumour aside, the characters are really down-to-earth, flaws and all. We can all read books that are disconnected from reality, but this one connects. There is such vulnerability, it normalises what we feel. From a christian perspective I was refreshed by the simple message conveyed by Ruckus and his explanation of why God is named 'The Forever Man'. God is forever. He's always there for you.
