He makes his case so well that his book, "Doctrine that Dances," is our Preaching Book of the Year." Michael Duduit, editor, "Preaching" magazine?"Away with dull doctrinal sermons Using the metaphor of music, the author shows us how to blend cogitation and celebration--mind and heart--in our preaching of Bible doctrine. You can benefit from his wide knowledge and experience in traditional western homiletics as well as African American preaching. We have much to learn from each other, and this book is a valuable contribution to the current conversation." Warren W. Wiersbe, former pastor o

    Fresh ideas for preaching

\\tIn Doctrine that Dances , Robert Smith Jr. provides this definition for doctrinal preaching: 'the escorting of hearers into the presence of God for the purpose of transformation through Jesus Christ' . The best thing about this book is that the ideas are contained within 3 powerful and memorable metaphors for preaching: (1) The Preacher as an Exegetical Escort; (2) The Preacher as a Doxological Dancer; (3) The Jazz of Doctrinal Preaching. \\r\\n\\r\\nIt wasn't until I read his sermons at the end that I was struck how different the preaching he describes in the book is to my own. So whilst I agreed with pretty much everything he said, the finished product is somewhat different, and I am left wondering how to do what he did in his sermons. \\r\\n
