What sort of contraception, if any, should I use? When does human life begin-at fertilisation or at some point after that? What are the arguments for and against abortion? Is it OK to use genetic screening and other pre-natal tests to check for abnormalities in my unborn baby? Should Christians use IVF and other assisted reproductive technologies? What is the current state of embryonic stem cell research?

These are just some of the many complex and emotion-laden questions we face in the rapidly changing field of reproductive medicine, and most Christians do so with two very significant handicaps:
- We don't have accurate up-to-date information about the medical and technological issues involved.
- We have not thought through a sound, biblical framework for making ethical decisions in this area.

Dr Megan Best provides what is lacking in both of these vital areas. Built on extensive historical, biblical and medical research, *Fearfully and Wonderfully Made* is the comprehensive, accurate, biblically-based ethical handbook that Christians have been waiting for.

Great Resource on Early Life Ethics

An excellent book for those who want to seriously consider, from a Biblical perspective, the ethical implications of medical decisions regarding pregnancy, this could include doctors, medical students, midwives, pastors, or laypeople seeking to make a biblically-informed decision on what can be emotive and difficult topics. \\nIt is well written and fairly easy to read, although in some parts complex terminology is used; however, to help combat this issue the author has clearly delineated sections aimed at doctors by italicising the writing and placing it a grey box. \\nThe book is also divided by chapters into different topics (e. g. contraception, abortion, screening in pregnancy, miscarriage, infertility, assisted reproductive technology), which makes it useful as a reference book, allowing you to quickly lookup a specific topic rather than having to skim through the whole book to find a particular topic.

Shortlisted 2013 Australian Christian Book of the Year

A medical doctor, bioethicist and parent surveys the science and ethics of the beginning of human life. Combining her expertise in biology, theology, philosophy and pastoral care, Best has produced an exhaustive and authoritative text. She helps readers to navigate the ethical issues raised by infertility, abortion and reproductive technologies. Fearfully and Wonderfully Made is neither smug nor judgemental but compassionate and remarkably readable. \\r\\n
