The little town of Nazareth is a long way from Jerusalem and King Herod's evil clutches. Yet is anywhere in Judea far enough? Gossip swirls around the newlyweds Mary and Yosef. It is far too soon for her womb to carry the growing baby, neighbours say. Yet too much is at stake for Yosef to reveal the truth. He vows to protect Mary and the baby with his life, but how can he protect her heart from the barbs of betrayal? As beloved prophetess Hannah boldly foretells the coming of Israel's true King, King Herod plots her doom . . . and that of anyone else he believes challenges his throne. When a dying slave stumbles into Bethlehem on a stormy night, shepherd Zadok and his wife, Rachel, wonder: Is her arrival guided by God or a trap set by the paranoid Herod? As Mary and Yosef set out on a perilous journey to Jerusalem, astronomer Melchior sees unusual activity in the stars. He's convinced something important will happen soon in Israel. . . and it will impact the world, for all eternity. In their most dramatic, ambitious, and significant historical series to date, Bodie and Brock Thoene once again transport readers back in time to first century A.D. to the birth of Christ - the most critical event in the history of the world.

As indicated in its title, FIFTH SEAL is the fifth instalment in Bodie and Brock Thoene's A. D. CHRONICLES, an epic project transporting readers back to ancient Jerusalem and the life and times of Jesus of Nazareth. \\r\\n \\r\\nFollowing on from Fourth Dawn, FIFTH SEAL opens with Mary's pregnancy becoming visible, the shepherds praying for their Messiah and astronomers from the East noticing signs in the night sky that foretell the unravelling of a great mystery. Yosef's heart is torn as he begins to hear murmurings about Mary's fidelity yet knows he cannot reveal the truth about her baby. As he questions why his young wife must be subjected to such gossip when she carries the Son of the Most High, he is visited in his dreams by his namesake, Joseph the Dreamer and the extent of the responsibility put before him is revealed. \\r\\n \\r\\nMary's spirit is wounded by the snide remarks of her neighbours yet her heart is captivated by the gift of her child as she ponders the angel's words and the implications for her people as well as herself and Yosef. When the extent of Herod's depravity and madness becomes clear, as he orders the murder of two of his sons, Mary and Yosef feel the danger to their unborn child growing closer. The summons to return to Yosef's birthplace of Bethlehem strikes fear in his heart, both for the rigors of the journey upon Mary and the knowledge Herod is actively seeking out any threat to his reign. \\r\\n\\r\\nInterspersed throughout the story are the…
