    Passionate

Carla has written one of my favourite romances. I have read this book twice and the tingling goosebumps were there both times! The chemistry between Andrea and James is electric, passionate and vulnerable. Andrea's past is delicately explored and overcome, which makes her well rounded and relatable. James' Hollywood status and down-to-earth personalities are developed in such a way that you cannot help but admire who he genuinely is and not how the world depicts him to be. Grounding the relationships are also family tensions. I felt right at home with Ian, Serena, the kids, and grandma. They didn't hide their faults, but instead embraced them which I admired because it helped build character. I also thoroughly enjoyed the Scottish landscape and the small towns Andrea and James visited. This story will play out in your imagination like a personal movie. All good things must come to an end, and sadly this story ended far too quickly because I couldn't put it down. I am so excited there are another 2 books to delve into. It doesn't get better than that!

    Absolutely Beautiful!

Oh, this was beautiful. Loved the main characters and their banter from the first page, their romance, their journeys and the incredible descriptions of the Isle of Skye. Better than a tourist brochure. I want to go there! Beautiful story set amongst a stunning vista with a family who'll totally embrace you on sight - what more could you want? Cannot wait to read the rest of the series with the other siblings!

    Refreshing

I finished this first book in the MacDonald Family series and immediately looked for the next one. I loved the delightful story and the descriptions of Scotland. I could actually picture being there. I loved the journey that both James and Andrea are on. It is more than just a sweet romance. It covers real issues especially faced by women in the workforce. I am looking forward to reading the rest of this series.

    5 Days in Skye

This is an unfolding love story. A professional lady sent to Scotland for consulting work with a famous chef who owns hotels. Not wanting to go there as she had planned her holiday in Tahiti with warm days and relaxing. Compared to cold Scotland she wasn't impressed. After stating her disappointment in a bar with a gentleman she was shocked to discover that it had been the chef whom she was to consult with. The job turns into a 5 day holiday site seeing with the chef. They fall in love but because she had been badly hurt before so she broke it off and returned to Ohio. James followed her there a few days later and so the story ends with love and joy. Good story .

    Not my scene

Other readers have been pleased so that proves there is an audience for this book. Having had 2 alcoholic grandfathers, I was less impressed with the characters love affairs with alcohol. The reader is kept in the dark about Andrea's past and ex-husband for most of the book. I guess Jamie has had a sordid history so Andrea's history doesn't really matter. Realistically I don't see 'happily ever after' in the future for them but this is fiction.
