The uniqueness of the work is that it simply presents a selection of the writing of the person, rather than an interpretation by a church historian. Helpfully, there are brief summaries by the editors to give context to the writing. For example, who or what the writing was in response to. \\r\\n\\r\\nThe weakness is it is only limited snapshots. The strength is the brevity allows for easy access for the reader. This resource allows for an insight and if interested the reader could pursue more significant works by the original figure of church history. \\r\\n\\r\\nAlthough they are English translations of the writings, some of the language can be difficult to follow due to technical theological terminology and different approach to writing from different cultures and centuries. \\r\\n\\r\\nOverall, a very helpful, concise book to better understand some of the key people and writings of church history. \\r\\n
