    Helpful, but dry

""""Introducing Logic and Critical Thinking"""" is a very clear, helpful introduction to the subject matter. This textbook accessibly and methodically goes through a broad range of fundamental concepts and skills. The second half of the book focuses on intellectual virtues, which is an interesting and useful way to think about good reasoning. What brings the book's quality down, however, are its shallowness in some areas and its dryness throughout. It is targeted at an absolute beginner, so some of the concepts are given very little development. And it's just plain boring to read! I managed to finish reading the book, but only because the subject matter itself is interesting to me. The way in which it is written is perhaps too methodical to hold one's interest for an extended period of time. So, while this is a very good textbook that I would recommend for a novice, just know that you'll have to put in some effort to keep going.
