Airline pilot Connor Evans and his wife, Michele, seem to be the perfect couple living what looks like a perfect life. Then a plane goes down in the Pacific Ocean. One of the casualties is Kiahna Siefert, a flight attendant Connor knew well. Too well. Kiahna's will is very clear: before her seven-year-old son, Max, can be turned over to the state, he must spend the summer with the father he's never met, the father who doesn't know he exists: Connor Evans.

Now will the presence of one lonely child and the truth he represents destroy Connor's family ? Or is it possible that healing and hope might come in the shape of a seven-year-old boy?

Melts and Breaks your heart all at once!

Oceans Apart is a heart-wrenchingly honest look at life, relationships and forgiveness. \\n\\nThis book essentially covers the story of Max, a small boy who loses his Mother in a plane crash and his attempt to find the father he never knew. Oceans apart looks at issues such as dealing with the loss of a parent, the betrayal of extramarital affairs and the struggles of family relationships and expectations. \\n\\nOne thing that stood out to me when reading this book was Karen Kingsbury's skill in bringing the perspective and innocence of a young boy to her writing. You could definitely feel the emotions and understand the rationale behind Max's every thought and decision which is something I haven't come across in many books I have read. \\n\\nThe key take away from this book is definitely our need as humans to love and to forgive others, especially when it seems justifiable not to and impossible to do so. \\n\\nIf you're looking for a book that will melt and break your heart all in one - pick this book up!

    Wholesome, Moving

Kingsbury has a way of drawing you in. All it will take is one chapter, the first chapter, to be immersed in the story and its characters. Naturally unfolding is a story that will speak to each of us about the importance of forgiveness; forgiveness in God's strength that will allow us to love deeper. That's not to say there won't be heartbreak along the way. It is a sad story sure to tug on your heartstrings. If familiar with Kingbury's writing, you will know that there is more to the story than that which meets the eye.

    A tear jerker!

Eight year old Max has so much love to give. This story revolves around bringing him and his family together. Karen Kingsbury has written several novels, many of them series, but this is a stand alone like no other. It revolves around a weekend eight years ago when an airline captain breaks the greatest promise of all. Max brings the power of healing to all he comes into contact with. I suggest that you have a box of tissues on hand, because by the end you will have used the whole box. It is a book I enjoy picking up again and again as it reminds me of second chances. I can only suggest this book will take pride of place in your bookshelf.
