Set in South Australia, this book does have American spelling to make it more internationally friendly, but it is Australian in nature. Most of what I didn't like about this story are purely personal preferences. The hero has anger issues, and that's not something I enjoy reading. I especially thought with his history it was a bad idea for him to get involved with the girl's drama, but I did like how the ending was not fairy-tale perfect. The story reads smoothly with a good plot arc. It was a little less conversative then what I enjoy. If you don't mind more contemporary Christian romance where the guy forgets himself and swears (even though the swear word doesn't appear in the book), you'll probably be fine. I liked the mum who, as I understand it, is threaded through the rest of the series. My compliments to Meredith for being able to write such an interesting secondary character who doesn't overtake the main characters. That was excellent writing.

Delightful and deep
This story offered quite a few giggles, laced with real-life concerns. It was refreshing to read a story set in my own hometown (Adelaide, South Australia). \\nI loved the interplay between the Regency romance snippets from Luella Linley and the contemporary story of her daughter Megan and the cute cop, Cam. It only took me a delightful half-day to take it in and find myself reaching out for Book 2!\\nIt's worth noting the story deals with stalking - so it was a cautionary tale as well as a delightful read, and the author wove in some handy wisdom as well. \\nThe beautifully human characters and their families added to my enjoyment.

A fantastic fun read
This book got me in fast and held my attention until it was done. I thoroughly enjoyed reading something Australian, and, being from Adelaide, even from my home city. I also thoroughly enjoyed that feeling of being compelled to read, of being so drawn into the lives of the characters, so invested in their growth, maturity and happiness that I just had to keep reading. Meredith Resce used an interesting point of view rather than the common approach of seeing things through the eyes of the hero alternating with seeing things through the eyes of the heroine. This different approach may have added to the draw on the reader. There wasn't any great mystery or suspense, but I just had to keep reading - it was great. Looking forward to the next in the Luella Linley series.

as Aussie romance
I have to admit that I found the plot in this novel more akin to a horror story than a romance, at times: the """"innapropriate situation at work"""" that Meagan has is a women's worse nightmare! But that aside, I enjoyed the 'Aussie-ness' of the story, and the down to earth, realistic characters.
Surely every girl who dreams of netting the perfect catch needs Regency Romance author, Luella Linley on side. Or not. \\n\\nDaughter, Megan, admires her mother's skill managing her romantic characters' exploits, until Luella's well-intentioned meddling spawns a fake engagement between Megan and the gorgeous Cam Fletcher. As chaotic emotional crosswinds whip up choppy seas for new friends, their ruse provokes a turbulent response from Megan's perverted boss, Shane. A vile altercation leaves good guy Cam facing jail while bad guy Shane ramps up the angst, adding financial insult to the injury he's inflicted on Megan. It seems Luella's cruisy happily-ever-after love boat is sinking fast. \\n\\nMeanwhile, Lord Landown, Lady Rosalie's lost love, lies chained to a derelict convict ship awaiting transportation to Australia for a murder he didn't commit . . . Luella's authorly deviations into the world of Regency England create some amusing transpositions as parallels between the two stories evolve. \\n\\nOrganized Backup good-humouredly acknowledges the voyage through life and love can be rough. As Megan and Cam's growing feelings languish in the doldrums, subtle hints tug at their underlying anchor of faith. But once the winds of hope pick up, the story sails into port in style as Resce deftly ties up their complicated entertaining journey. \\n\\nAs a mystery/thriller addict, I recommend this gentle, romantic interlude as surprisingly refreshing. I wonder what the intrepid Luella…
