Dallas Willard's *Renovation of the Heart* has become established as a classic guide to the spiritual life. In this abridged version, Don Simpson makes its riches more easily available for devotional use.
The authors believe that we fail in the spiritual life mainly through neglect of the roles played by the various elements of our personality. They reflect on each of these elements - heart, mind, body, social life and soul - and invite us to understand its role, train it in new patterns, and expose it to God's transforming power. This holistic approach will, they suggest, produce new ways of responding to life, and will result in profoundly changed character.
This accessible distillation of an award-winning work can be read as an ordinary book, or used for personal study and prayer or on retreat. Suggestions for meditation and response appear at the end of each chapter. ***-Publisher.***
This book will help you reflect on the spiritual significance of each element of your human self--heart, mind, body, social life, and soul--so that God can transform you. Includes discussion questions.

An essential """"first-reader"""" of Willard's Writings
Willard and Simpson have created an easy to read book, both in writing style and layout. Developed over its twelve chapters each one addresses another consideration of the revolution of heart through discovering (and hopefully experiencing) Jesus' pattern for spiritual transformation. Each chapter ends with questions for meditation and response, reflecting on them drew me back into scanning the ideas of the chapter. The book provided a lighter how to framework when synthesizing its message into the broader reading. It has potential as a tool in peer and mentoring group applications. The book is a good 'first reader' for other works from Dallas Willard.
