**Are you compelled to tell your side of the story?
Do you fight thoughts of suspicion or distrust?
Are you constantly rehearsing past hurts?
Have you lost hope because of what someone did to you?**

*The Bait of Satan* exposes one of the most deceptive snares Satan uses to get believers out of the will of God--offense. This trap restrains countless Christians, severs relationships, and widens the gulfs between us. Jesus said, "It is impossible that no offenses should come" (Luke 17:1). Although you *will* encounter offense, you can choose how you will react.

In this new twentieth anniversary edition, John Bevere shows you how to identify the traps ahead of you and escape the victim mentality. With declaration-style prayers and testimonials from people whose lives have been changed by his message, this book will inspire you to stay free from offense and its destructive power.

    Highly recommend

I went through this book with my homegroup and what a blessing it has been. To see just how being offended has such an impact on everything was amazing. This book spoke straight to my heart and although I have read this quite a while ago now I often find I use the message in it.

    Good but a caution

I can see where John is coming from and he makes a lot of good points. My caution is the section pages 124 to 130 about losing your salvation if you harbor unforgiveness towards someone. If my nephew Billy destroyed my daughter's treasured possession and Sue would not forgive him, screaming every time he came around that she hated him and he was not allowed in the house etc, I would not disown her and make her live on the street! I would give her some serious discipline. Other places in the Bible say that the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord, full stop. Not through Jesus Christ plus through us forgiving others. Jesus' sacrifice is sufficient for all sin, even the sins we do not notice or realize. Sometimes I think unforgiving people are so focused on the hurt and destruction that has happened that they do not realize how displeasing they are to the Lord when they hold on to bitterness. So how I would interpret the verse about if you do not forgive, you will not be forgiven as, other sins that we confess and repent of, the Lord remembers no more, but if we hold on to unforgiveness, He will keep on trying to change us through hardship and discipline. Nothing to do with eternal salvation.

    Good reminder

This is an essential book for everyday compliance to God's Word. John Bevere teaches and outlines the basics of why we take offense and how we overcome it so as to live a life that God wants us to live and be freed from the temptation of Satan. The evil one is always baiting us to sin and with this book, it arms us against the offense so that we have our inner peace and joy intact. This is very useful for me!

    Considerate

What an interesting book! i picked this up because i had heard him preach and his sermon captivated and challenged me. His book did the exact same. It really addressed the issue of sin in our lives and how if we aren't careful we can get caught up in it and forget that God has the power to forgive. I think this is a great book for anyone wanting to increase their walk with God.
