Open a window into your heart. So often we find ourselves caught between extremes. Either we feel too much or not at all. We tend to ignore our feelings or fight them off as if they were an enemy. But all emotion, whether positive or negative, can give us a glimpse of the true nature of God. We want to control our negative emotions and dark desires. God wants us to recognize them as the cry of our soul to be made right with Him. Beginning with the Psalms, Dr. Dan Allender and Dr. Tremper Longman III explore what Scripture says about our darker emotions. In this groundbreaking work they reveal that often our attempts to control our emotions, far from an attempt to be Christlike, are really a form of rebellion against God or an attempt to flee from him.

    Cry of the soul

The Cry of the Soul by Dr Dan Allender & Dr Trempler Longman 111\\nThis is an engrossing book which explores the depths of every man's heart experience with God. The writers examined the Lament Psalms on human suffering and how the sufferer often vents his anger against God. They go on to deal with unrighteous and righteous anger. Together with anger is the feeling of shame and fear. One truth is that fear of the world drives us away from God but we should fear God above all because a moment of existence without Him is hell. That's why many suffer from depression. What validates the book is the reality of the writers' own experiences. The best part is the writers discussed the ambivalence of God who conquered shame for us through His Son, Jesus , who willingly came to die on the cross. His suffering has ironically transformed the evil intended to the goodness of salvation and freedom from guilt. This study of the Lament Psalms concludes with a gratitude of worship and praise to the God who loves His creatures so much. \\nEveryone should read this book to know how to have a right relationship with God in the midst of suffering. \\n
