Parents, grandparents, extended family, friends, teachers, youth workers and counsellors all need to know how to support children through the divorce process and in the years that follow. Each child will react differently, but some issues are common to all: the need to be listened to, coping with the grief that follows the destruction of the original family unit; having divided loyalties, dealing with the organisation necessary when a child has two homes; coming to terms with step-parents and step-families. This book is written with personal and professional insight, and also contains interviews with children who have gone through the adjustment process. It sheds light, brings hope and encouragement to anyone who is trying to help children through one of the most difficult of life's experiences.

    Insightful and yet. . .

After reading """"Missing being Mrs"""" I was keen to read this book too. There were references to church, God and prayers in the first book. But this one seems to leave God out of the equation. It covers the tricky things about separation and divorce for children and the research is extensive. But the overarching conclusion is that 70% of kids from broken families turn out fine. My definition of """"fine"""" includes more than her definition though. I want my grandchildren to grow up to love the LORD and follow his commands - not live with their """"partners"""" and be cynical, expecting their partner to cheat on them. (examples from her own children who turned out """"fine"""". )\\nSo, I would suggest that people read this for the human side to divorce but look for resources on spiritual warfare if they don't want to surrender their loved ones to the evil one. (our fight is not against flesh and blood but principalities. Ephesians 6) I am praying that my adulterous, alcoholic son-in-law will be granted repentance and doing all in my power to see that the children take refuge in the LORD for His healing and help.
