Richard Gamble's three-volume Whole Counsel of God explores the relationships between exegesis and hermeneutics, and between biblical, systematic, and historical theology. "He bridges the gap so many have identified between traditional systematic theology and biblical theology," Richard Pratt writes; not only that, he "penetrates beyond scholarly concerns to life issues that every believer faces." Gamble engages the writings of theologians across disciplines and through church history to assist him in this task.

Following the first volume-God's Mighty Acts in the Old Testament-The Full Revelation of God examines the nature of New Testament Scripture, introducing New Testament authors and their writings. Gamble covers the doctrine of God, soteriology, ecclesiology, and anthropology and concludes by presenting a biblical philosophy of life and a defense of Christianity.

"A very comprehensive theological project, embracing the disciplines of biblical theology, historical theology, and systematic theology," writes John Frame. "Nothing comparable in scope has been done in the last hundred years within the circles of Reformed orthodoxy."

"In a field dominated by higher-critical methodologies, Gamble's work is a breath of fresh air; his approach is biblically faithful and engaging." -John MacArthur, President, The Master's University and Seminary.

"A remarkably comprehensive analysis of God's New Testament revelation in Jesus Christ. Among the many admirable qualities of this major project are its clarity, historical accuracy, and sustained interaction with the full historical sweep of theology inclusive of the confessional Presbyterian and Reformed traditions. I highly recommend this volume." -Peter A. Lillback, President, Westminster Theological Seminary.

"This volume is a welcome return to respect for God's Word-and not in part, but the whole. . . . This wonderful volume will help move Scripture's glorious, life-changing testimony from the printed page to the minds and hearts of all who consult it." -Robert W. Yarbrough, Professor of New Testament, Covenant Theological Seminary.

"Dr. Gamble's second volume of his ambitious project, blending biblical theology with a systematic-theological structure, encourages the reader to see the entire sweep of redemptive history fulfilled in Jesus Christ and his work of redemption. It should greatly repay close attention." -Robert Letham, Professor of Systematic and Historical Theology, Union School of Theology.

"Readers will find a wealth of insights that result from this comprehensive effort to integrate the results of biblical-theological interpretation with systematic-theological issues and conclusions in light of the history of doctrine-an impressive accomplishment of a demanding undertaking." -Richard B. Gaffin Jr., Professor of Biblical and Systematic Theology, Emeritus, Westminster Theological Seminary.

"Impressive. The author provides amazing and sweeping vistas of the forest without neglecting the trees. This volume will reward patient reading and rereading." -Michael S. Horton, J. Gresham Machen Professor of Systematic Theology and Apologetics, Westminster Seminary California.

    Unique Blend II

This is Vol. 2 in a series of 3 books planned by this author. Vol. 1 explored the OT this one explores the NT using a similar approach. Its a long awaited continuation from 10 years ago when Vol. 1 came out and is substantially longer. It virtually contains an Intro to the NT, summary of all the books in the new covenant while unfolding in a unique way a blend of biblical, systematic and historical theology of the NT teaching. Dr Gamble has jam packed this volume with his vast knowledge in an easy to read style free of technical jargon. He really made an attempt to be understandable to lay readers, i commend him on this. I like the design and layout of the book, the analytical outline is helpful and complements the contents page. He has thoroughly footnoted and referenced this work to enable readers to go even deeper into primary sources. I appreciate his exegetical work on the verses Eph 5:18 and Col 3:16 which are critical in understanding the role of new covenant praise has in the worship of God. Thankyou for your labour, looking forward to the 3rd volume.
