The Killing Tide (#01 in Coastal Guardians Series)

Gabby Rowley is an investigative journalist whose life is in danger because of her part in having a crook put behind bars. She goes back to her home town where her brother Noah and old flame Finn vow to protect her, though she's no stranger to taking care of herself. They both work for the Coast Guard Investigative Service, and things soon heat up. \\n\\nThere's a fairly complicated plot, with lots of suspense and mystery. I liked the main characters, and there was also an interesting dynamic among all of the investigative team. The writing was generally good and moved along at fast pace. I liked the short chapters that kept me turning pages. There were some faith issues in the mix, though I would have liked to see them tackled in a bit more depth. There were also some original scenarios (e. g. Gabby's back story) that sparked my interest. The romance between Finn and Gabby was also good. \\n\\nThere were a lot of point-of-view characters, so that divided my attention a little. I know that some of that is because this is Book 1 of a series and some of the secondary characters will become more prominent later. However, I would have liked a tighter focus. There were also a few things that stretched credibility a bit. \\n\\nHowever, it was an enjoyable read overall and I will probably read more books in the series. If you like Christian romantic suspense, you will probably like this book.

Powerful beginning - straight to the point and engaging. Despite initially being confused by the amount of characters and their similar names, I got my head around everyone. What succeeded was a thrilling story! Two crimes linked together. A closely-knit community and friends. Every time I had to put the book down, I longed to pick it back up. Chemistry between Finn and Gabby was tingling. Whatever their relationship was over winter flared back up. Their chemistry was electrifying. Dani set this series up well by introducing the characters and their personalities, teasing what is to come in the next books! I can't wait.
