This was an enjoyable read with lively characters who had depth and personality. Matthias and Kathryn's relationship and banter was fun and engaging.

Gold Rush Era Historical Romance
Whilst this was not my favourite Francine Rivers book, I can't help but give credit where credit is due. Francine Rivers has an ability like few others to develop such strong recognisable characters in her books and The Lady's Mine was no different. Whilst I thoroughly enjoyed the story overall, there were a few elements that I found a bit disappointing in comparison to other Francine Rivers' books. I felt that the faith elements weren't as strong or mature as previous writings and was a bit put off by the feminist overtones in the story. As mentioned by another reviewer, the ending did also seem slightly rushed. This probably comes across as a negative review, but realistically Francine Rivers is in a league of her own at times, so this was still overall a great story, just not my favourite of her work.

The Lady's Mine
So much is embedded into the title. With each page you read, you are pulling back layers of meaning. My biggest take home is to show others grace regardless of whether it is deserved. Be kind. Forgive. See people how God would see them.
