Dr. Francis Collins, head of the Human Genome Project, is one of the world's leading scientists. He works at the cutting edge of the study of DNA, the code of life. Yet he is also a man of unshakable faith in God and scripture. ?Dr. Collins believes that faith in God and faith in science can coexist within a person and be harmonious. In "The Language of God" he makes his case for God and for science. He has heard every argument against faith from scientists, and he can refute them. He has also heard the needless rejection of scientific truths by some people of faith, and he can counter that, too. He explains his own journey from atheism to faith, and then takes readers for a stunning tour of modern science to show that physics, chemistry, and biology can all fit together with belief in God and the Bible. "The Language of God" is essential reading for anyone who wonders about the deepest questions of faith: Why are we here? How did we get here? What does life mean? ?

This book truly shows that Christianity and science do not contradict, as today's society tends to think. Really opened my eyes and made me realise that I have always been in awe of God's glory, I just didn't attribute it to Him. \\n\\nThis book is also very important because there is almost a spiritual war going on between both extremes from science and faith, and that will not lead anywhere good. But Collins shows us that there is a solution which is very straightforward and logical.

Best Aplogetic Book
Undoubtably the best apologetic book that I have ever read. I read this as a skeptic leaning towards atheism, however, Collin's powerful argumentation and assessment of science and the Christian worldview managed to radicalised my personal faith. I'd often been confronted with biological evolutionism, the origin of life etc, however Collins deals with these prevalent issues in a succinct and theologically affirming manner. \\r\\nDon't even bother considering getting this book. . . you must!

A testimony to the harmony of Science and Spirituality
I anticipated reading Francis Collin's book, the language of God, with great expectation. It is indeed one of the most quoted books in Christian apologetics and beyond. It is interesting then, that in reading the book, it is not really about apologetics. Rather, it reads like one man's testimony about his spiritual """"evolution"""" (and his conversion from atheism to Christianity). Although written in this style, the book does engage in logical arguments, and in some critique of;\\r\\nThe (fallacious) materialistic worldview that denies any knowledge outside of science (Dawkins, et al). \\r\\nThe overly fundamentalist faith-based views that deny most discovered truth of God's """"book of nature"""" (e. g. Young-earth creationism). \\r\\n Intelligent Design for its ultimately """"God of the Gaps"""" (non-scientific) perspective. \\r\\n\\r\\nIf I have a criticism of the book, it's that Collins does not explore his own theistic evolutionary view, or discuss problems with the Darwinian paradigm. Many Christians will not agree with everything that Collins says, I didn't, but there's no doubting the veracity of many of his arguments. Overall, I think, the book is engaging and well written for the layman and scientist alike. It conveys a strong compassion at its core. Collins, a true """"top scientist"""", will exacerbates those who like the straw-man stereotype of believers being non-thinkers. He clearly loves both God and Science, and sees that they can only ultimately be in…

Excellent
This is an excellent book by one of the world's leading scientists on how you can be both an evolutionist and a Christian. Collins dismisses both the fundamentalist atheism of Richard Dawkins and the fundamentalist Creationism of people like Ken Ham while demolishing Intelligent Design along the way. The theological side is not as good as Polkinghorne's work, but the book is great because of the stature of the person writing it. Collins was head of the Genome Project. He will be in all the science history books forever. He really knows his stuff. He is also a big fan of CS Lewis and quotes him extensively and it's very easy to read. No unnecessary big words. Good stuff.
