Pampered Margaret Macy flees London in disguise to escape pressure to marry a dishonorable man. With no money and nowhere else to go, she takes a position as a housemaid in the home of Nathaniel Upchurch, a suitor she once rejected in hopes of winning his dashing brother. And when one of the family is nearly killed, Margaret alone discovers who was responsible. Should she come forward, even at the risk of her reputation and perhaps her life? And can she avoid an obvious trap meant to force her from hiding?

On her journey from wellborn lady to servant to uncertain future, Margaret must learn to look past appearances and find the true meaning of "serve one another in love."

    The Maid Of Fairbourne Hall

This was the first book I've read from Julie Klassen. I found it it a bit slow & hard to get into at first. As the chapters progressed, I found I was enjoying it more & that I couldn't put it down. I was screaming at the book in parts with joy & anticipation. Overall, I enjoyed this book & thought it was well written. I've recently purchased another Julie Klassen book - The Tutor's Daughter. Looking forward to seeing what it's like.

    One of Klassen's Finest

This in my opinion is one of Klassen's finest books by far. I found it completely captivating the entire time with tantalising romance, hidden secrets and a woman lying in wait to be discovered. I read very quickly from cover to cover. Perfect for any regency or romance loving readers.

    Great read!

I actually really enjoyed this novel! I loved the setting and the characters. It was lovely to see Margaret grow as a person and mature from a spoilt lady to a kind and caring woman. Loved Nathaniel as well! As I got to know him, I fell in love with his compassionate heart. \\nAlthough it started off a bit slow, the plot had enough twists and turns to keep me entertained. Loved the historical setting and all the research that I can tell went in. \\nOverall, I would recommend this to all lovers of historical, (adventure?) romance.
