Doesn't really seem to go anywhere

I normally love these two authors, but must admit this book was a little disappointing. There were a lot of characters to take in, so it took awhile just to get into it. You are more or less following 4 different stories all rolled into one. The most exciting part of the book was when the Southern friends/relatives turned on Jasmine for her Northern beliefs and they had to be on the run. That was the only real climax and didn't really go anywhere much after that.
