Timothy Keller argues that Jesus' story of the Prodigal Son, though his best-known parable, is also his least understood. This short but powerful book reveals the full dimensions of this remarkable parable, showing how it testifies to God's reckless, extravagant love.

In *The Prodigal God*, New York pastor Timothy Keller uses the story of the prodigal son to shine a light on the central, beautiful message of Jesus: the gospel of grace, hope and salvation. Keller argues that the parable of the prodigal son, while Jesus' best-known parable, is also his least understood. He introduces the reader to all the characters in this timeless story, showing that it concerns not just a wayward son, but also a judgemental older brother and, most importantly, a loving father. This short but powerful book is a reminder to the faithful, an explanation to the seeker, and finally an invitation to all - both older and younger brothers - to enter in to the 'unique, radical nature of the gospel': the reckless, spendthrift love of God.

    Absolutely eye opening!

An essential book for all Christians, particularly Christians who need a revival or review into their faith. This books provides amazing perspective on a story we often just gloss over, and highlights the importance of repentance and avoiding moral superiority. Highly recommended! It changed my perspective!

    Mind blowing

Tim Keller's 'Prodigal God' will blow your mind! Keller dives deep into the parable of the Lost Two Sons (traditionally known as the parable of the Prodigal Son) and uncovers the gospel in both stories; how we can be lost in licence by breaking all the rules - or how we can be lost in legalism by keeping all the rules. \\nI'd especially recommend this book to anyone who grew up as a Christian!

    Short detailed exposition

The whole book is an exposition of the """"prodigal son"""" parable. \\r\\n\\r\\nIt focuses on both sons and discusses how we are like both. The elder son is likened to the pharisees. \\r\\n\\r\\nKeller stresses that the focus of the parable is not just on the younger son but actually more about the elder son. \\r\\n\\r\\nThis book is helpful in giving another look at this well known parable.

You'll probably end up wanting two copies!

Prepare to be taken on a journey that gives more depth and understanding to the 'Prodigal Son' parable than you ever thought possible. Explore who the text was written to and why, the 'other son' (who often isn't focused on), relevant cultural context which gives even more depth to the parable, and most importantly the Prodigal God who is at the heart of the story. \\r\\n\\r\\nIt is written in a concise, easy to read format that is engaging, gospel centred and encourages self-reflection. You'll find yourself talking to friends, family and possibly even strangers about all that you are learning through this book. You'll probably even end up with a list of people you'll want to lend it to when you are finished. . . hence you'll probably want a copy to keep and a copy to lend or give away! \\r\\n\\r\\nI read this as part of a book club and it has to go down as one of my favourites to date and most certainly my favourite Christian Living title.
