The foundation of our youth ministry's culture is the heart of this book. Written in a very frank manner, it addressed serious topics affecting individuals today. We studied for about 8 weeks going through the contemporary application of these timeless truths and discovered that not much has changed in the last 50 or so years in light of the general attitude of a """"selfish saint"""". Hard hitting but necessary, Tozer stands as a guide on a well worn path, leading those who are willing to enter into true life by dying to self.

How to pursue God
One day Tozer took an overnight train in the 1940's. While some people were sleeping Tozer started writing. By the end of the train trip he had his first draft of this book. Not bad. This book has 10 short chapters in it and tackles issues of faith, perseverance, exulting God over all things, listening to God, the issue of worship and a few others things a Christian needs to be encouraged to do. The book also makes comments about the church back then, and it really could still be talking about today. This book is aim at the person who would call themselves a Christian and is written in simple layman English. This book is marked as a classic which I think means that you can easily quote almost every paragraph for its simplistic language explains a deep meaning. At the end of every chapter Tozer writes a prayer as a response to the chapter that you just read. That help summarise the point of the chapter, and also shows his humility and encouraged you to do the same. Read it. It won't take that long.

Life Changer!
I could not believe how painful it was to read this book. I'd heard of Tozer in passing and have seen some of his work quoted in other titles and articles I have read, but I thought it was time I check him out for myself. \\r\\n\\r\\nThe title of this book stuck out as I had been doing a personal study on """"pursuing God"""", and I must say. . the entire """"intellectual"""" study became a very deep and thorough study of my own spiritual condition; my heart, desires, motives, actions. . everything!\\r\\n\\r\\nI can say confidently and with tears of joy that I have been ABSOLUTELY WRECKED as a result of this title. \\r\\n\\r\\nThe eloquence of Tozer's English and grammatical structure can be daunting for some, but I assure you, if you can get past it, you will find great reward. \\r\\n\\r\\nIn a very gracious manner, he delves into some very offensive topics dealing with why we really do things and how far our hearts really are from God, especially those of us who profess so much about faith (that's me!). With not a hint of condemnation, he carefully uses God's Word to slice and dice our thoughts and intents and offer a far better way of simply loving and living for Christ. \\r\\n\\r\\nI recommend this to EVEYRONE AND ANYONE!
