I really enjoyed the Icecutter's Daughter and so picked up The Quarryman's Bride. Was surprised by the slower start as I've found Tracie Peterson to be a great and humorous writer. \\r\\n\\r\\n\\r\\nI enjoyed the Relationship development and exploration of damaging emotions displayed in Emmy's Dad not to mention showing what grief, her Mum, can do if held onto too long. \\r\\n\\r\\n\\r\\nThis bit from Sarah's review earlier this year is great and so thought to add it here for you too. . . . . \\r\\n""""Tracie had included some excellent points about forgiveness, bitterness and pride and how these elements can really affect not just ourselves, but those around us and our relationship with God. """"\\r\\n\\r\\n\\r\\nThankfully there is a great redemption side to this story and for that main reason I encourage you to continue with the 'Land of Shining Water series. \\r\\n

Good lessons
This next book in the Land of Shining Waters series centres around two families - the Maclaughlins and the Knox's. Emmy and Tavin face many difficulties that split their families apart. \\r\\n\\r\\nI found this book very slow to begin, and dull until around the last 100 pages. I persevered only because the relationship between Emmy and her father and mother interested me. I had to know what happened in their family dynamic. However, the pace of the story did pick up after 200 pages and the reader begins to get involved in the relationships very slowly fleshed out in the earlier parts. \\r\\n\\r\\nTracie had included some excellent points about forgiveness, bitterness and pride and how these elements can really affect not just ourselves, but those around us and our relationship with God. For these lessons alone I feel the story deserves 3 stars, but it is not one of her best novels. For those wanting to start reading her books, I recommend the Ladies of Liberty series or Heirs of Montana series for some more interesting novels.
