Timothy Keller uses reason, philosophy, and literature to make a compelling case for the rationality of belief in the Christian God. He brilliantly addresses the arguments of influential anti-theists such as Richard Dawkins and the late Christopher Hitchens.

At a time when scientists and critics such as Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens are questioning the validity of religion, this book uses literature, philosophy and reason to explain how faith in a Christian God is a soundly rational belief.Timothy Keller, pastor of an inner-city New York church, looks at some of the most widespread accusations levelled at Christianity, including* Christianity's claim of exclusivity;* how a good God could allow suffering;* why the Church is responsible for injustice;* if science has disproved religious belief.

This book has been written for believers and non-believers, sceptics and churchgoers, and charts a brilliantly considered and impassioned path to Christianity - a Mere Christianity for the twenty-first century.

The reason for God by Tim Keller

Tim in this book has a deep insight into the character of God and his desire that we as his created beings have a relationship with him as he relates towards his Son and the Holy Spirit. He wants us to enjoy his love and also to love others and not be self-centred. Then the world would be healed of brokenness. This would bring heaven down to earth. \\nThis book challenges anyone who wants to live for Christ to trust in his saving grace alone and not in any good that we can do. Failing to do this would make us like the religious leaders in Jesus' day who depended on their knowledge of the law and on upholding the law. \\nTim also answered some questions of sceptics with very good reasoning and so I strongly recommend this book to anyone who truly wants to know the truth about the real God that would set them free from doubt and fears. \\n

    A great read

This is the second Tim Kellar book I've read and I wasn't disappointed. This book would be perfect for new Christians, or people who are in a period of doubting their faith. As someone who is already strong in their faith, I didn't find it as helpful as I could of, BUT there were segments that really spoke to me and answered some doubts that I perhaps had never addressed. All in all, I recommend this book!

    Jon

One of the best modern books on apologetics. It is not a textbook. It's a book for thoughtful everyday Christians to read to strengthen their own faith, and to give to non-Christians to read. It addresses many questions which people today ask about Christianity, including many tough questions. Highly recommended.

    Really good!

This will help you be ready to give an answer when it comes to defending the faith, (not that being a Christian is about arguing people into becoming Christians). Also if you have doubts about the faith because of certain issues such as suffering, relativism, etc, this will help.

    Essential reading

Keller beautifully articulates answers to some of the most common questions about God and faith in this book. It's a great to add to your foundational collection.
