Time with God for Mothers by Jack Countryman would make a great gift by itself, or alongside God's Wisdom For Mothers. Time with God for Mothers is composed of a short passage of Scripture, followed by a brief reflection on the passage and what that means for mothers. \\r\\nThe pages are decorated with what seems to be digital collages of photographs of jewelery available from The Purple Door. They add a degree of femininity to the book without being in-your-face-pink-and-lace. It also helps the book feel modern rather than something your mother may have read (although the contents, of course, are timeless). \\r\\nThe reflections are encouraging. They are brief enough to allow the Scripture to take centre stage but long enough to give some food for thought over the day. There are (if my count is correct) ninety-four little devotions. They could be read in order, as a daily dose of encouragement and food for thought, or could be browsed as needed for a passage and reflection appropriate to the day's demands. I think it would be beneficial to read from front to back, at least initially, with pertinent reflections referred back to as needed. \\r\\nThis book would make a lovely gift for any mother, for a birthday, Mother's Day, or just because.
