Tracie Peterson Begins Compelling New Series Set on the 1840s Frontier
Grace Martindale has known more than her share of hardship. After her parents died, raising her two younger sisters became her responsibility. A hasty marriage to a minister who is heading to the untamed West seemed like an opportunity for a fresh start, but a cholera outbreak along the wagon trail has left Grace a widow in a very precarious position.

Having learned natural remedies and midwifery from her mother, Grace seeks an opportunity to use her skills for the benefit of others. So when she and her sisters arrive at the Whitman mission in "Oregon Country," she decides to stay rather than push on.

With the help of Alex Armistead, a French-American fur trapper, Grace begins to provide care for her neighbors, including some of the native populace. But not everyone welcomes her skills--or her presence--and soon Grace finds herself and those she loves in more danger than she imagined possible.

    Treasured Grace

A wonderful story. Together with a major problem with the local Indians which turned into a massacre there is still time for love and God's word plays a large part in that. It is very encouraging to read a story seeing people live in faith and trust. After suspense, sadness and joy we enjoy a very happy ending. good read.

    Captures the Heart

Loved the intensity of this story, I was hooked right from the start. I experienced so many emotions while reading this compelling novel. The story is based on the hardships and struggles that people faced going out West and the tensions between the settlers and the Indians, which the Author has so wonderfully written. It is a moving story that also inspires the reader with encouragement words from the Bible. This story will Capture your Heart, I am looking forward to reading book 2 in this series.

    Real History

Although this was a hard book to read as it dealt with a historical event that actually happened it was so well written that it is hard to put down. Tracie Petersen has seamlessly put fictional characters into it in such a way that she deals with the deep questions of where is God when evil things happen and how do you move forwarded after intense suffering, very authentically. I loved the three sisters, Grace, Hope and Mercy and look forward to reading Hope and Mercy's stories.

    Good Reading

    3. 5 stars \\r\\n\\r\\nThis book is easy to read, it flows well and is captivating from start to finish. \\r\\n\\r\\nThis is the first book in three and it follows the story of Grace the eldest of three sisters. In this book you will find heartache, love, loss, tragedy, faith, and trust. \\r\\n\\r\\nPlease note that there are some subjects in this book that are not suitable for children or young teens to read. I would suggest you read the book before passing it on to someone younger as to determine if suitable.

    Enjoyed!

Tracie has woven another wonderfully enjoyable story. Grace Martindale marries so that she and her sisters can join the wagon train heading west. Sickness and death is not unknown on the journey and death takes her husband along the way. Grace is know for her healing remedies and midwifery which she learnt from her mother. \\r\\nSickness becomes wide spread at the mission where she chooses to stay for the winter so that her sister can recover and gain her strength. \\r\\nWhen it impacts the Indian community, unrest rises and trouble ensues. \\r\\nAlex Armistead is well know by the Indian community and has spent many years fur trapping. When he meets Grace he at first judges her wrongly and soon comes to know her caring heart. \\r\\nCan they help find peace for their own journey and also for the communities around them? A wonderful story.
