Cecilia Hatherleigh has many secrets in her shy, sweet heart--but none bigger than her unrequited love for Edward Amherst, the earl's son next door. Her love has persevered over many years, even when he grows to be a bit of a rake. Yet despite his fondness for females, he never seems to see her as anything more than the quiet younger sister, and nothing Cecy does has changed that. Rather than pining after his perhaps unworthy love, she decides to turn her focus toward living out her newly found faith. Now she's determined to follow God's leading to make a better world for the poor and dispossessed around her.
A London riot awakens Edward to the responsibilities due his family name. It's time to turn his life around to please his noble father--and that means restoring his abandoned legal career and making a marriage of convenience. Neither will be easy, given his past and the prejudices of the upper echelons of society to which he belongs.
When misadventure strikes at a house party, these two are thrown together even as their lives are upended. If Cecy can't trust God, overcome her shyness, and find her inner strength, the good work they've both done may be for naught--and neither will ever find true love . . .
Well known for her authentic Regency romances set against less-explored, true historical backgrounds, best-selling author Carolyn Miller continues her newest series with a clean, wholesome tale sure to please her many fans.

Underestimating Miss Cecilia (#02 in Regency Brides: Daughters Of Aynsley Series)$22.99
I loved the start of this book. Unlike Book 1, this starts with the two main characters interacting and really drew me into their relationship. It wasn't until several chapters in that things got a little quiet as the two parted ways for a time. I skimmed some of the heroine's parts, but the hero kept me engaged. I enjoyed his quest for meaning/redemption, and when the heroine was attempting to be involved with the hero's affairs from afar, I liked that too. Things really picked up speed once the two attended a house party together, and the rest of the book flew along at a good speed. I wasn't sure about the switch in positions towards the end, but I hopped on board after Carolyn took the time to highlight the difference idolizing and loving a man. That was good. It was an easy, engaging read that kept me entertained and gave me food for thought.

A compelling story
This novel captures Cecilia's new found faith in God, her heart for the poor and her unrequited love for Edward, her neighbour, brilliantly. From start to finish this story is enduring, engaging and tenderhearted. I found myself completely caught up in the heartbreak and triumphs of both Cecelia and Edward. The Author has once again blended history into storytelling in this well researched novel of passion, longing, love and faith in God. A compelling story. Looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Underestimating Miss Cecilia
Another thoroughly enjoyable novel from this author. I laughed out loud at times, including at the clever twist on the Bible verse which instructs us to love our neighbour. As always. I learned more about regency times and found the house party and its games fascinating. I immediately connected with Cecilia and appreciated her personal and spiritual growth that saw her become an assertive young lady whilst maintaining her soft and caring heart. I loved her sense of justice and I also enjoyed learning more about Ned after meeting him in previous novels. \\n

BREATHTAKING!!
Ms. Miller's books hold the stories that I never knew I needed in my life! """"Underestimating Miss Cecilia"""" is, no kidding, one of the BEST books I have EVER read! I loved the characters, the circumstances, the setting. Everything was perfect! Everything about this story was beautiful and made my heart sing! The depth of Ms. Miller's research into Regency-era customs and events is unparalleled! I always come away from this author's books feeling as if I've been living in another era! \\r\\nThe characters are ALWAYS relatable, no matter how different they are from one another, one story to the next. It reminds me EXACTLY of the way I feel going between Jane Austen novels. Each heroine ENTIRELY different, yet you feel in sync with their thoughts and feelings and never doubt the rightness of their decisions. \\r\\nAhhh. . . I can't even BEGIN to convey the satisfaction I received from having read this! If you are a fan of the Regency time-period, achingly tender love stories, andor faith-filled stories about trusting God's will for you and accepting His free gift of grace, then this is the story for you! Take my advice and read this book! (You'll thank me later. )\\r\\n\\r\\np. s. Cecilia is one of my TOP 3 favorite heroines from Author Carolyn Miller's novels to date!
