He gives deep insight to the Father's heart, His compassion, empathy, patience and love. His desire for a people who separate themselves from the evils of the world, who seek His face. It also reflects the righteousness, holiness and judgement of God. I am enjoying it immensely.

An invaluable study tool
I am a born again Christian. After the Holy Spirit revealed to me that the Bible is in fact human history, rather than a collection of children's fables, I had to immerse myself in deeper study. However, I found reading the holy book verse by verse, chapter by chapter, to be very cumbersome. After reading from Genesis to Isaiah, I gave up! I found the many layers of cultural and historical context overwhelming. After a while I stumbled up David Pawson's work by chance one day and I ordered a copy of the book. It is actually a companion to a series of lectures David presented in England in the early 1990's, and all of these lectures have been recored and are available on his website: www.davidpawson.*** \\n\\nIf you are a """"big picture"""" person like myself, someone who sees history in sweeping strokes, rather than someone who obsesses over the minutiae, you will love this book. In the first few chapters David explains two theories of human history, one in which history repeats itself like a merry-go-round, and the other a straight-line in which progress builds over time. He also compares and contrasts evolutionary theory (including the Nietzsche's idea of """"struggle"""") against creationism. Whether you are an atheist or Christian, you will find that the Bible has timeless lessons to teach about what it means to be human. The day we brush it aside as an antiquated and irrelevant old book will usher a new age of stupidity. I fear that secular society has already advanced…

Excellent Study Tool
David Pawson is such a clear and concise writer, and also brings out patterns and insights to the time, place and purpose of the books of the bible, that I would have otherwise missed! I find Unlocking the Bible is a great book to have on hand and read just before or alongside reading of the bible, to give some more context. I read this out to my children sometimes also, who enjoy having the extra information to set the scene for a given book of the bible. It's also excellent value for money. . . it must have been quite an undertaking to write such a volumous book, and yet the price is very modest.
