This well written book looks to the academic world of scholarship in an effort to encourage more faithful preaching of the New Testament. Each chapter discusses a book or section of the New Testament, introducing key themes, engaging with discussion and providing guidance in preaching that book or section. D A Carson's chapter on preaching the Gospels is a particular highlight, even encouraging preachers to deal with longer narrative passages at a time. Not all readers will agree with everything written in each of the chapters in the book, but it proves nonetheless thought provoking. For those who wish to develop as a well thought out preacher who endeavors to preach the New Testament faithfully, being informed by solid evangelical scholarship, this book is highly recommended.
