I hate to give a negative review to a Christian author, but I have really struggled to stay engaged with Karen Kingsbury's latest novels. They just don't seem to have the appeal of her previous series. I found that the story in 'When We Were Young' felt forced and the characters a bit underdeveloped. I think the story has a worthy moral, but I found myself feeling sorry for Noah, and rather annoyed with Emily, which was not quite the aim of the story!
