It's an eye-opening account that God really does work with any type of person even during the most important part of Christian history. God didn't pick kings or celebrities or even people who were incredible at doing incredible things. The title "Twelve Ordinary Men" says it all -- the ordinary given something extraordinary to do. MacArthur does an excellent job consistently pointing back to the Bible to support the descriptions of each apostle or the people around them.
