    A must read

The best part about this book is that it isn't formulaic, judgemental, or doom and gloom. It celebrates that smart phones can be used for good, while also informing the reader on how the smart phone is impacting our daily lives. It presents the issues, and ideas for solutions, but then leaves it up to the reader to decide what area they feel they need to tackle personally, and how to tackle it best for themselves. It is such an informative and positive book; I really appreciated reading it, and it has honestly helped me combat my phone addiction.

Extremely Vital Reading For The Modern Day Christian

Tired? Fatigued? Short-tempered? Apathetic? Depressed even? Well, there is profound evidence here to suggest that your Christian walk is being greatly affected by what you are inputting into your soul. Tony has gone to great lengths to compile unbiased and eye-opening articles, stories and facts that always roundhouse back to biblical truths. \\n\\nThere is never a dull moment inside the book and I have certainly never devoured one so quickly while simultaneously taking the time to re-read it again and again. Tony stresses the warning signs of the transformative power technology in general is having on us - unless of course there is a power out there that is far more transformative than mere human hands have created. . \\n\\nThe way Tony points our hope and focus back to Christ is wonderful which marks this reading as a personal backbone of a book to me. So if you are a Christian who cares for the state of not only your soul but those who may be entrapped in the cycle of addictive tech then prepare yourself to be challenged and convicted on a whole new level.

    Essential reading

Since the advent of TV, key writers and academics have studied the effects of television and radio and their impact on society. Two individuals, Neil Postman and Marshall McLuhan are the big names who devoted their lives to study the impact of these technologies in a field that has come to be known as Media Ecology. In this Christian evaluation of the smart phone in the last decade or so is done well by Tony Reinke. This book is easy to read but in a similar fashion highlights that as Christian disciples how we need to watch for the dangers in our consumption of the smart phone. He critically examines the pitfalls and dangers in a very practical way. Giving us biblical principles to examine ourselves to see if we are idolizing it or whether we are good stewards of this """"good"""" gift of God. Found this book to be both helpful and convicting in places and has given me guidance on how to think through my use of the smart phone as well as the myriad of other technologies and there uses and usefulness. Thankyou Tony for writing this book.

    Poignant and Timely

The dangers of technology are lauded loudly by conservatives and older generations. Sometimes scientists chip in too, using a tiny piece of data or a skewed statistic to incite the whole population against something. This book is refreshing! It deals with the same issue, but rather than interpreting everything as a danger to be warned against, it explores it through the perspective of how we are changing as people. Everything from relationship, convenience, secrecy and gratification is addressed in light of the technology we hold in our hands. Dangers are exposed, sure, but not just that. How our lives and ministry can be improved is also addressed.

    Thoughtful and thorough

In this day of checklists, blog posts, and clickbait, I'm sure you've seen several short videos and the like about this issue. This book explores our hyper-connectedness but not with a sword of judgement, separating 'right and wrong'. Rather, the perspective is how we can identify and avoidmanage pitfalls, while also using technology to our advantage as believers. And I LOVE that it's a book where you have to sit down, disconnect and read.
