The five-part typology of ministry in Ephesians 4:1-16 is known by the acronym APEST - Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Shepherds, Teachers. In this groundbreaking book, Alan Hirsch sets out the most comprehensive model of APEST to date. A compelling guide to best-practice ministry!

In the pages of this book, Alan Hirsch takes us on a really deep dive into the fivefold (APEST) typology of ministry as articulated in Ephesians 4:1-16, but he takes us to a depth and scope that few (if any) have ventured before. By laying out the most comprehensive model of APEST to date--one that incorporates deep theology as well as innovative practice--Hirsch once again demonstrates his almost uncanny capacity to change not only the conversation itself, but also the scorecard on how we understand calling, church, leadership, and organization.

    Deep and Wide

I'm surprised how deeply biblical the five-fold ministry is. I mean, it is not only mentioned once in Eph 4:11-13. The pattern can be seen in creation, the Old Testament, and even Jesus Himself!\\nThis book also shows that five-fold ministry is not only applicable in ministry. It can be seen in other organisations and movements. \\nThis book opens my eyes on the significance of the five-fold ministry in church. Not only they are important in an individual's ministry and calling, but more importantly in the church and community as a whole. \\nThe first half of this book is theological and the other half is practical. It also reads like a 6-week seminar/course. so it's very comprehensive. \\nHighly recommended to all pastors serving in a local church.
