This book brings good humour, sensitivity and sound biblical theology to a often hidden aspect of everyday life. Rachel Jones walks the reader through the physical, emotional and spiritual side of living with periods and menopause. She unpacks for the reader how the pain of periods are a result of the fall, and the forward-looking hope of eternal life without pain, with Jesus. She does not ignore the painful reality it poses for many women now, but encourages women to be reminded every month not only of biological child-bearing, but of spiritual child-bearing -- making Jesus known to those who do not yet know him. She also reflects on ways in which God can use the trials women face to strengthen and grow them in Christ, and on how weakness is part of following a Saviour who humbled himself, and is not a cause for shame. The final """"appendix"""" includes seven short answers to very practical questions relating to pastors, parenting, marriage and other areas. This is an excellent book that is both readable and profound. It is written with good humour without being crass. This sound and biblical book will be of benefit to all readers, men and women alike.
