Just a few short weeks into her year-long nurse training assignment at the Blessing Hospital, Miriam Antonio is called home to Chicago, where her mother is gravely ill. With siblings to care for, Miriam pleads to be allowed to finish her training in Chicago. Her nursing supervisor grants her a brief reprieve but extracts a promise that Miriam will soon return to Blessing and fulfill her commitment.

While in Chicago, Miriam has tried to get Trygve Knutson and Blessing out of her mind, but his letters make that impossible. Trygve is busy building a house, hoping he can convince Miriam to return to North Dakota and marry him. Torn between Trygve's love and her family's needs, she doesn't know what to do.

When Miriam finally returns to Blessing, she buries herself in her work. But no matter how hard she tries to put it off, she has some life-changing decisions to make about her future, her family...and the man who is never far from her thoughts.

    A Delight to read

A very engaging story. I enjoyed continuing the journey of the families in Blessing from Book 1 in this series. The evolving romance between Miriam and Trygve is heartwarming and so is the community spirit of the families in this small pioneering town, despite the drama and tragedy that happens. It is a moving story with characters that capture your heart with some heart tugging moments. It is a delight to read and I look forward to reading Book 3 in this series.

    enjoyable

Reading one of Laurainne Snelling's 'Blessing' books is like returning to an often-visited holiday destination: you need a few moments to get your bearings, and reacquaint yourself with the numerous characters before setting down and feeling like you've returned to your 'home away from home'. This book continues to follow Miriam and Trygve's story, as well as the various changes that the town has undergone as the community expands. If you are a 'Blessing' fan, then you will definitely enjoy this novel!
