In England's Regency era, manners and elegance reign in public life--but behind closed doors treason and deception thrive. Nicholas Langdon is no stranger to reserved civility or bloody barbarity. An excellent read!

I literally finished reading this book in under a week! It was such a gripping tale! Melanie Dickerson has such a wonderful writing style- I read every book of hers that I can get my hands on. I really felt like I came to know the characters in A Spy's Devotion. It has a very Cinderella like feel - you have the orphaned daughter, who is left with basically nothing of her own and is completely dependent upon her Aunt and Uncle to take care of her. Neither of whom spare any love for her, but rather tolerate her as more of a companion to their spoilt daughter (Phoebe), who luckily gets on well with Julia. However, things become difficult when Phoebe sets her sights on Nicholas Langdon, who it appears Julia is falling in love with herself. Add to the mix her uncle's plot to assassinate the general commanding the British army in their war against France and you have a very dramatic read that will have you clutching your seat!

    Good read.

While this isn't my favorite book ever, I still really enjoyed it. It was easy to read, with both funny and serious moments. It can easily be read wihtout reading the rest of the series. I haven't read """"A dangerous engagement"""" yet, but really enjoyed """"A viscount's proposal""""\\nWould definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys suspenseful romance.

    Brilliant Read

Melanie Dickerson is my new favourite author!! This book is exceptionally well written. The plot is believable and suspenseful all the way through. In terms of Regency era novels, this has to be the best by far. I am really looking forward to reading more in this series.

    Suspense! Intrigue! Romance!

Wow this book certainly keeps you reading and on edge. It is set in England during the time of the war between England and France. I found it a very enjoyable book to read. I loved the dynamics of the relationship between Julia and Langdon, the main characters and also those of the minor characters. There are sweet moments, intense scenes and a really believable storyline. This is the first in a series, so there is more enjoyment to come.
