Everyone is a theologian of sorts. Theology simply means thinking about God and expressing those thoughts in some way. But sloppy theology is a problem. As Christians, our thoughts about God need to coincide with what He has said about Himself in the Bible. With his clear understanding of the Scriptures and unpretentious writing style, Charles Ryrie has written *Basic Theology* for every student of God's Word, from the devotional student to the seminary student. Ryrie's name has become synonymous with dispensational theology and his texts on the subject invaluable to the Bible scholar. Featuring charts, definitions, and Scripture and subject indices, *Basic Theology* will give you a clear and comprehensive picture of Ryrie's approach to systematic theology. Its 94 chapters are arranged in outline style for easy reference. Considerable emphasis is given to explaining the dispensational view of the end times.

An excellent introduction into systematic theology, regardless of Calvinist-Arminian leaning

Ryrie's """"Basic Theology: A Popular Systematic Guide to Understanding Biblical Truth"""" is an excellent introduction into systematic theology, regardless of Calvinist-Arminian leaning. This is because Ryrie, who is thoroughly DispensationL and does not lean to Reformed thinking, is gracious and balanced in his writing and the perspectives put forth. His writing style is accessible to the reader regardless of their background and he breaks down each section well, complete with scriptural references. He looks at doctrinal topics such as God, the Bible, the Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ, the Church, Satan and demons, sin, humanity, salvation, angels, end times, and other doctrines. This is a must for local churches to take the next step in deepening their understanding of systematic theology, hence a great resource for Bible Study groups and similar ministries. Once finished, this would be a good stepping stone to more weighty works like MacArthur's """"Biblical Doctrine: A Systematic Summary of Bible Truth"""" and Grudem's """"Systematic Theology: An Introduction to Biblical Doctrine"""". Highly recommended!
