    Beginings of MAF

In buying missionary biographies to read then pass on to my grandchildren, I jumped at learning the beginnings of MAF (Mission Aviation Fellowship) because I support the facilitating work they do throughout the world, allowing other ministries to reach remote locations without days of arduous land travel. The book is written at an intelligent level, meaning, not dumbed down for children and therefore very readable for an adult as well. I found the book engaging and it kept my interest - """"just one more chapter"""" before I did something else. Betty was at the forefront of women doing """"men's"""" work and that is handled in the book with understanding of the time, yet she persevered in following God's direction. I'd recommend this to any person above the reading level of age 8. Betty's life story is not available in any other format, a lot of the information coming from her own unpublished writing about her life. It therefore had a very personal eye into events. I loved it.

    A pilot to admire

My children and I really enjoyed reading this story of one of the earliest missionary pilots. Betty Greene is certainly inspiring and her adventures in diverse and interesting parts of the world make great reading. It's also a wonderful homeschooling living book that can form the basis of much further investigation on geography, history and culture.
