When Meg Whitaker's father decides to sell the family's lobster-fishing business to her high school nemesis, she sets out to prove she should inherit it instead. Though she's never had any interest in running the small fleet--or even getting on a boat due to her persistent seasickness--she can't stand to...

When Meg Whitaker's father decides to sell the family's lobster-fishing business to her high school nemesis, she sets out to prove she should inherit it instead. Though she's never had any interest in running the small fleet--or even getting on a boat due to her persistent seasickness--she can't stand to see Oliver Ross take over. Not when he ruined her dreams for a science scholarship and an Ivy League education ten years ago.

Oliver isn't proud of what he did back then. Angry and broken by his father walking out on his family, he lashed out at Meg--an innocent bystander. But owning a respected fishing fleet on Prince Edward Island is the opportunity of a lifetime, and he's not about to walk away just because Meg wants him to.

Meg's father has the perfect solution: Oliver and Meg must work the business together, and at the end of the season, he'll decide who gets it. Along the way, they may discover that their stories are more similar than they thought ... and their dreams aren't what they expected.

Bestselling author Liz Johnson invites you back to Prince Edward Island for a brand-new series about family, forgiveness, and the kind of love that heals all wounds.

    not for me

I didn't really enjoy this novel: I just felt too frustrated with Meg. It seems petty that she would be so upset with her father's decision to sell his business rather than pass it on to her, when she obviously has neither the interest, skills or experience needed to run it. And her grudge against Oliver seems a bit unrealistic - yes, what he did would have been frustrating and upsetting, but it wasn't like it was a premeditated attack against her, but instead a mistake that occurred because she happened to be in the way when he was going through some rather major emotional turmoil. I did enjoy the setting of PE Island, but otherwise, this novel wasn't for me.

    A pleasure to read

I love stories with couples at odds with each other at the start of the book. It doesn't take too long before the heroine forgives her archnemesis, but there are plenty of funny scenes before that and plenty after it too! I enjoyed the relationship as it built. Their deep conversations and how they both help and support each other. The part about her mom being so ill (that's not a secret) caused me plenty of tears. If you are sensitive to stories about that, this might not be the book for you. I didn't like the conflict at the end. I know a book needs a climax, but I hated how the heroine treats the guy at the peak moment. It all ends happily, but I sort of wish she hadn't said all the things she said. But that's life isn't it? In the heat of the moment, we often say things we truly regret later. It does end well though. There are passionate kissing scenes (reminds me of Karen Witemeyer a bit in that) but nothing too steamy. I loved the way the hero interactions with the heroine's mum. I didn't quite understand the relationship with his own mother, but I'm wondering if that might make more sense in another book. The little town came alive, and I felt I knew the place well from the descriptions of the people and their customs there. This was a satisfying read, and I'm looking forward to the sequel.

    Beyond the Tides

This novel was a little slow to start, but once it got going I couldn't put it down! The characters were real and you felt their pain, their anger and frustration but also their willingness to change and to forgive and love. I can't wait to read the next in the series!

    Intriguing

\\nThis book was really well written and such a sweet story. I loved the way the two main characters supported each other, even though they were competing for the same prize. It was really lovely to head back to Prince Edward Island, like taking a holiday without the craziness of actual travel. Super fascinating learning about the lobster trade too. Really interesting. Looking forward to reading more in the series. \\n
