Maryam and Marziyeh testify to God's grace reaching into one of the world's darkest and most dangerous places.
Maryam Rostampour and Marziyeh Amirizadeh knew they were putting their lives on the line. Islamic laws in Iran forbade them from sharing their Christian beliefs, but in three years, they'd covertly put New Testaments into the hands of twenty thousand of their countrymen and started two secret house churches.
In 2009, they were finally arrested and held in the notorious Evin Prison in Tehran, a place where inmates are routinely tortured and executions are commonplace. In the face of ruthless interrogations, persecution, and a death sentence, Maryam and Marziyeh chose to take the radical - and dangerous - step of sharing their faith inside the very walls of the government stronghold that was meant to silence them. In *Captive in Iran*, two courageous Iranian women recount how God used their 259 days in Evin Prison to shine His light into one of the world's darkest places, giving hope to those who had lost everything and showing love to those in despair.

Captive in Iran: A Remarkable True Story of Hope and Triumph Amid the Horror of Tehran's Brutal Evin Prison$24.99
Captive in Iran provided great insight into what it looks like to be a Christian in Iran and what it's like to survive in Evin Prison. A book I couldn't put down and would highly recommend to anyone who wants to look outside their own Christian bubble.

Wish I could give it more than 5 stars!
Absolutely amazing book that I wish I could've given it more than five stars!\\nThis book is so captivating from the very beginning! It gives a good insight into treatment of women within the walls of Evin Prison, but it also inspires the reader hearing about the strength in God that these two women had! Honestly, it was extremely inspiring and it helped me in my own walk with God. These women were BOLD in faith when faced persecution at the hands of the prison. What a book! I finished it within a week!

Very inspiring
This is a powerful testimony to the power of God to save and protect his people in the darkest of places. I learned a lot about the arbitrariness of life in Iran and the fear its citizens live under from this book. No one is safe from accusation and even for actions we would consider normal, people can be thrown in prison. The two girls in this book are sent to a notorious prison because of their faith in Christ and active evangelism. Once there, God helps them to reach other women trapped by the regime. This is an important story although a little repetitive at times. It was also filled with lots of other prisoners' stories as one of the purposes of this book is to let the world know the sufferings of women in Iran.

Challenging
This was an insightful read to hear about what the women Christians in the muslim world are suffering through. It is challenging because it encourages us to do more for God and to witness more to those around us. It did get a bit confusing when they kept switching from one woman's point of view to the other, but it was well put together

Inspirational
I found this book to be very compelling. Once I had started to read the pages I couldn't put the book down. I was inspired by how bold these women were, that despite under such harsh conditions they could be steadfast and faithful to the Lord. It encouraged me in my everyday living to be more bold in my witness for Christ - if these women could remain firm in prison - how much more should I be faithful in freedom. \\r\\nI was also so moved reading the stories of how God was working in the lives of the other prisoners. It was evident that these two Christians were enduring such horrible circumstances for the glory of God. Sometimes we forget to ask """"where Lord?"""" because we are too focused on the """"why?""""\\r\\n
